Patriots sign free-agent tackle Kellen Diesch

The New England Patriots are adding another offensive tackle.

On Friday, ESPN’s Mike Reiss reported that the Patriots are signing free-agent tackle Kellen Diesch. The 26-year-old had a successful workout on Thursday.

The Miami Dolphins signed Diesch as a rookie free agent, but he was waived shortly after. He then spent time with the Chicago Bears and Pittsburgh Steelers. After the 2023 season, he was signed by the Browns but was cut with a failed physical destination two days later.

The 6-foot-7, 300-pound lineman will have an opportunity to showcase his talents behind Caedan Wallace, Chukwuma Okorafor, Calvin Anderson, and Vederian Lowe.

In college, Diesch played for Texas A&M and Arizona State and earned second-team All-Pac-12 Conference Honors as a senior.

The Patriots also realized offensive tackle Tyrone Wheatley Jr. Friday morning. Wheatley Jr. was seen with the athletic training staff on Tuesday before missing practice on Wednesday and Thursday.

The New England Patriots roster is back up to 90 players.
