In a rare media appearance for Robert Kraft, he made it clear this season hasn’t gone as expected. Before the year started, Kraft told the media he wanted to get back to the playoffs and, more importantly, win a postseason game.
The Patriots are currently projected to have five wins, which would be the fourth straight season without a postseason win. The last playoff victory came in 2019 when Tom Brady and the Patriots defeated the Rams in the Super Bowl.
Before Sunday’s kickoff against the Colts in Frankfurt, Kraft was interviewed on NFL Network by Rich Eisen.
“This is our thirtieth year that I’ve had the privilege of owning this team, and I’ve never been 2-7,” Kraft said. “So it’s disappointing, and I hoped that things would be a lot better, as I know our fan base did. And I hope today is a chance to reset and make this a much better year. This isn’t what we were expecting to happen this year.”
The Patriots are on track for their worst season since the 2000 season when they finished at 5-11. Atlas, the subsequent season, the Patriots won the Super Bowl with Tom Brady.
Kraft also told NFL media that he talked with the team before heading to Germany to stress the significance of this game. The Patriots have a big fanbase in Germany and in Europe, and the Patriots will definitely have a home-field advantage.
The Patriots will likely position themselves well for the upcoming NFL draft in April. Currently, the Patriots have a 6.6% of landing the first overall pick. Currently, they’re slated to pick fourth. They’ll also have the second-most cap space available.
