Once seen as one of the best position groups on the roster, the running back room has changed dramatically due to injuries.

New England Patriots running back Damien Harris is likely to miss multiple games due to injuring his hamstring last Sunday, according to NFL insider Tom Pelissero.

Damien Harris rushed for 11 yards on four carries with just six snaps before exiting the game. On the season, he has 57 carries for 257 yards and three TDs. With Harris sidelined second-year back, Rhamondre Stevenson will get an increased workload. When Harris exited on Sunday, Stevenson took on a huge role; he finished with a career-high 161 rushing yards and 24 carries.

Bill Belichick said Monday; He doesn’t “expect” Ty Montgomery to practice this week. Montgomery was placed on the IR earlier in the season but is now eligible to return. New England only has two healthy running backs on the active roster, Rhamondre Stevenson and Pierre Strong J.r. However, Strong J.r. only has taken three snaps thus far, so New England may want to take a look at free agents. However, the Patriots have RB J.J Taylor and RB Kevin Harris on the practice squad.

If QB Mac Jones remains out with a high ankle sprain, New England will heavily rely on the rushing attack, and with Harris gone, there are questions about who will step up.
