The New England Patriots are waving a former 2023 free-agent signing.
NFL Network’s Tom Pelliesro reported that the Patriots plan to realize Chris Board at the start of the new year.
Board, 28, signed a one-year contract with the Patriots last year. The former North Dakota state product entered the NFL in 2018 as a undrafted free agent. The Ravens signed the linebacker to a three-year rookie contract, and the Board spent four seasons in Baltimore. Afterward, he spent a year in Detroit before hitting the free-agent market in 2023.
The Patriots signed Board during the 2023 off-season, and he inked a two-year, $5M deal with the Patriots.
In 2023, Board played in all 17 games for the Patriots, recording 407 special teams snaps. He totaled ten tackles during the season and was second in the special teams unit.
The Patriots will create $1.9M in cap savings with the release of the Board.
The NFL Legal tampering period opens up at noon on March 11th.
