Patriots to Interview Ex-Bears Offensive Coordinator for OC opening

The New England Patriots have now scheduled interviews with nine candidates to fill their offensive coordinator opening

According to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, the Patriots are planning on interviewing former Chicago Bears offensive coordinator Luke Getsy.

Getsy began his coaching career at Akron in 2007. He worked at several colleges, including West Virginia Wesleyan, Indiana, and Western Michigan.

Betsey, 39, was fired at the end of the 2023 season after spending two seasons as the Bears play-caller. Before coaching in Chicago, Getsey spent seven years with the Green Bay Packers as a passing game coordinator and quarterbacks coach.

Last season, the Bears finished 22nd in offensive DVOA, and the offense struggled to maintain success. Led by Justin Fields, the Bears offense finished 27th in passing offense.

Getsy is the latest candidate to interview for an offensive coordinator. Jerod Mayo has also interviewed Rams assistants Zac Robinson and Nick Caley, Texas’ QB coach Jerrod Johnson, Panthers’ offensive coordinator Thomas Brown, Lions passing game coordinator Tanner Engstrand, and 49ers tight ends coach Brian Fleury.
