The New England Patriots keep making moves, as the NFL legal tampering period began at noon on Monday. Boston Herald writer Andrew Callahan reported that the New England Patriots have re-signed defensive tackle Carl Davis to a one-year deal.
The Ravens selected the UOI product as the 90th overall pick in the 2014 NFL draft. Davis spent three years with the Ravens organization, appearing in 28 games but was eventually cut before the 2018 season. The Browns claimed Davis, and the defensive tackle spent 2018 in Cleveland. However, he only played in five games. Davis was released before the 2019 season started and spent time with the Colts and Jaguars.
Davis was signed by the Patriots in 2020 and has played in 37 games for New England tallying two sacks, one fumble recovery, and 33 tackles. Davis is an explosive tackle, and he adds nice value to the Patriots. During the 2022 season, Davis played 218 defensive snaps and appeared on special teams 30 percent of the time. The 6-foot-5 320 pounder usually aperars up the middle in short yardage sitations and should be the nose tackle backup.
