The deal is reportedly worth up to $6.7 million as Bill Belichick looks to revamp the Patriots’ special teams. The 27-year-old plays primarily on special teams but is also an outside linebacker. The five-year veteran started his NFL career in Baltimore and stayed with the Ravens for four seasons, appearing in 67 contests. He signed with the Lions after his stint with the Ravens on a one-year deal.

Head coach Bill Belichick has nothing but praise for Board. Before the Pats hosted Detroit in Week 5, Belichick said of the 27 year old: “Board, that’s the best special teams player we’ll play against all year. He’s a great player.”

Board started to become influential for the Lions on special teams, ranking first on the Lions with 359 special teams snaps and ten tackles, ranking second. In addition, Board recorded a forced fumble and 11 tackles in 160 defensive snaps on defense for the Lions last season.

The versatile player will help the Patriots on their kick-off unit, which allowed a record three touchdowns to opposing teams during the 2022 season. Board joins Ja’Whaun Bentley and Jahlani Tavai and recently re-signed Raekwon McMillan and Mack Wilson on the linebacker depth chart.
