The New England Patriots are gearing up to travel to Germany and could be without two veteran starters.
At 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, the Patriots are making the 10-hour flight to Germany, preparing to face the Colts at 9:30 a.m. on Sunday.
Before we dive into which players were limited, let’s start with the positives. Defensive lineman Davon Godchaux, receiver Tyquan Thornton, and edge Josh Uche were all removed from the injury report and were listed as full participants.
Meanwhile, receiver Demario Douglas was limited in practice due to an ankle injury. Douglas has blossomed into one of the Patriot’s top receiver threats, and without Douglas, the offense could struggle with consistently. He’s on pace to be the Patriots’ reception and yardage leader at the end of the year.
There’s no question the Patriots have suffered brutal injuries to their team this season, including on the offensive side of the ball. Veteran wideout Kendrick Bourne sustained a torn ACL against the Dolphins two weeks ago and will be out for the entirety of the season. Along with Bourne, DeVante Parker is nursing a head injury he suffered in Week 8. Parker didn’t suit up against the Commanders but returned to practice on Wednesday. If Parker and Douglas are both limited, it could lead to the Patriots playing Kayshon Boutte, who has been inactive since Week 1. In addition, the Patriots could activate newly signed receiver T.J. Luther from the practice squad to the active roster.
Additionally, it was reported before practice started that J.C. Jackson would not make the trip to Germany and was asked to stay home. The report said Jackson’s performance issues and being late to the team hotel before last week’s game made the decision. The Injury report listed him as out due to personal reasons. Furthermore, Trent Brown also didn’t practice due to personal reasons. Brown is dealing with an ankle injury, which could also have led to his decision to miss practice.
