The Las Vegas Raiders are getting reinforcements as they prepare to face the Patriots on Sunday. The Raiders designated two of their most valuable players to return from the Injured Reserve. Wide receiver Hunter Renfroe and tight end Darren Waller have been removed from the IR and are expected to be activated for Week 15.
In his press conference, head coach Josh McDaniels told the media, “So, we’ll start the clock today. Again, whether or not that’s going to turn into activating them to the 53 this week or not, we’re going to get them out there, and we’re going to evaluate how it goes. We’re hopeful, but obviously, we will let their bodies tell us a lot here as we go through the next three days.”
Darren Waller has missed the Raiders’ last five games due to suffering a hamstring injury. Foster Moreau has taken over for Waller, as he’s been productive in his absence. Before his injury, Waller was on the field for 65% of the Raider’s offensive snaps and tallied 175 yards on 16 receptions and one touchdown. Waller was limited to 11 games in 2021 due to injury but still had 55 receptions for 665 yards while scoring twice. Before 2021 Waller reached 1,000 yards in 2019 and 2020.
Meanwhile, Hunter Renfroe has only suited up for six games this season due to an oblique injury. In the games he’s played, he’s caught 21 passes for 192 yards. Renfroe would join an already explosive offense led by DeVante Parker.
The 5-8 Raiders will host the 7-6 Patriots at 4:05 this Sunday.
