The Patriots signed Marcus Cannon to the practice squad on September 8th. The Patriots drafted Cannon in the fifth round of the 2011 draft, and he helped contribute to three Superbowl titles. The second-team All-Pro appeared in 134 games, including 80 starts, before getting traded to the Texans.

New England traded Cannon to the Texans in the 2021 offseason after he opted out of 2020 due to Covid-19. New England acquired two draft picks in the trade. The Texans fired him in March after starting four games at right tackle last season.
