Source: Patriots show strong interest in Khristian Boyd; met with him during UNI Pro Day

According to a source, the New England Patriots are showing strong interest in defensive tackle Khristian Boyd and met with him at his Pro Day earlier in the month.

On March 18, Patriots scouts attended Colorado State, Fresno State, and Georgia State, among other Pro Days. Who was at Northern Iowa? It was Patriots defensive line coach Jerry Montgomery who led the charge for the Patriots.

Boyd has gathered attention from around the league as he has scheduled top-30 visits with the Green Bay Packers, Detroit Lions, Minnesota Vikings, and the New Orleans Saints. However, as of now, there is no official visit with the Patriots scheduled.

That being said, while most teams have already started sending out invites for the top 30 visits, the Patriots have not. As of now, there are no reported top-30 visits with the Patriots. My expectation is that after Friday’s Pro Days, which include Michigan and Florida State, the team will start planning their visits.

Boyd was a former FCS All-Amercican in 2023 and played six seasons at Northern Iowa. Boyd totaled 10.5 sacks, 22.5 tackles, and two forced fumbles through 49 games.

This past winter, Boyd showcased his talent at the Hula Bowl and the Senior Bowl. On his pro day, Boyd measured in at 6-2 and 329 and completed a whopping 38 reps on the bench press, a school record for a pro day.

The interior lineman could complement Christian Barmore if selected by the Patriots.

Although it’s important to note that all NFL teams like to do their due diligence around this type of year, several prospects have yet to have pre-draft meetings with teams that’ll draft them in May.
