The New England Patriots have made their first move on cutdown day.
The Patriots have waived offensive lineman, Chasen Hines, a source told the Boston Herald’s Doug Kyed. In addition, the Patriots have activated Calvin Anderson from the non-football illness list.
Hines, 24, was drafted by the Patriots in the sixth round of the 2022 NFL draft. The Louisiana State alum has battled injuries during his tenure in New England. The 6’3, 330-pound tackle made the 53-man roster last season. He was placed on the injured reserve last October without appearing in a regular season game.
The Patriots recently added two tackles via trades, and now they are getting more depth at the position. According to Field Yates, offensive tackle Calvin Anderson will be activated off of the non-football illness list.
Anderson, 27, signed with the Patriots at the beginning of free agency and inked a two-year $7 million contract. He played in 41 games and made 12 starts in Denver.
Anderson has played 4,200 snaps in his career. He is familiar with the Patriots organization as he entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent with the Patriots in 2019.
The Patriots must finalize their 53-man roster by Tuesday at 4:00 p.m. The Patriot’s current roster sits at 77 players.
