The New England Patriots are interviewing two more coaches for their defensive coordinator position.
According to NFL Network’s Tom Peliessero, the Patriots have requested to interview Broncos cornerbacks coach Christian Parker for their vacant position on Friday.
Parker, 32, started his coaching career as a cornerback coach at Virginia Tech in 2013, then left Virginia Tech and was hired to become the Norfolk State defensive backs coach. Parker transitioned to the NFL in 2019 when the Green Bay Packers hired him as a defensive quality control coach. After two seasons in Green Bay, he went to The Broncos, where he remains.
Parker is viewed by many as one of the fastest-rising coaches in the NFL. At the young age of 32, he has already had the opportunity to learn from Vic Fangio (2021), Vance Joesph (2022), and Sean Payton (2023).
Later in the morning, NFL Network’s Ian Rappoport tweeted that the Patriots also requested to interview Michael Hodges for their defensive coordinator position. Hodges, 37, has plenty of experience coaching in college and the NFL. In 2014, he spent two seasons with Eastern Illinois before joining the Panthers’ coaching unit in 2016.
One year later, the New Orleans Saints hired him, and Hodges has been with the team ever since.
Hodges and Parker join Carolina Panthers outside linebackers coach Tem Lukabu as the candidates who have interviewed for the Patriot’s defensive coordinator position.
