Patriots sign 7 to reserve/future contracts

Despite the uncertainty with head coach Bill Belichick, it remains business as usual down in Foxboro.

The New England Patriots have announced they have agreed with seven current Practice squad players.

The following players signed future-reserve deal contracts with the Patriots:

WR T.J. Luther
OT Andrew Stueber
RB Ke’Shawn Vaughn
DT Trysten Hill
DE William Bradley-King
LB Joe Giles-Harris
DB Azizi Hearn

Four players on the Patriots practice squad have not yet reached an agreement. Those are cornerbacks William Hooper and Breon Borders, tight end Matt Sokol, and center Kody Russey. Those four players could leave the organization or sign a futures deal later.

A future deal is a contract that allows a player to compete for a roster spot during the spring and even into training camp. It’s important to note, all the players who signed future contracts today did not take any snaps for the team in 2023.

It’ll be interesting to see who will be in charge of player personnel in the future, with Bill Belichick saying Monday morning he’d be open to the team requiring his GM role.

“Look, I’m for whatever we decide collectively as an organization is the best thing to help our football team,” Belichick told the media at his end-of-season press conference. “I have multiple roles in that, and I rely on a lot of people to help me in those responsibilities. Somebody’s got to have the final say. I have it. I rely on a lot of other people to help. Whatever that process is, I’m only part of it.”
