Patriots honor Damar Hamlin at Gillette Stadium

Gillette Stadium has taken part in recognizing Bills defensive back Damar Hamlin after his catastrophic injury.

Earlier in the week, the Patriots shared a picture of a lit-up Gillette Stadium honoring Damar Hamlin on Twitter. On Friday afternoon, Patriots reporters tweeted photos of a newly added design on the field. Gillette Stadium staff painted and underlined each “3” on the football field in a blue outline.

The Patriots have also changed their profile photo on Twitter and will continue to honor Hamlin. Meanwhile, multiple Patriots have donated to Damar Hamlin’s toy drive. Owner Robert Kraft donated $18,003, a unique number in Jewish culture. The 18 symbolizes life, as Kraft made a meaningful gesture. In addition, Mac Jones, Devin McCourty, Marcus Jones, and more gave their donations to his drive.

NFL Insider Ian Rapoport reported that the NFL sent a memo addressing how NFL teams can contribute to Damar Hamlin this weekend. It should be an electric atmosphere in Buffalo as the Patriots try to claim the last playoff spot. Team captain Matthew Slater told the media, “It shouldn’t be like anything I’ve ever seen.”

Each team will have a pregame recognition and players wearing Nike T-shirts with the words “love for Damar 3” during warmups. The Bills also announced their players would wear a jersey patch with the number “3” on the front.

The Patriots will look to extend their season on Sunday at 1:00, which should be an emotional rollercoaster for Bills and Patriots fans.
