Snap Counts
Offense: 55 total snaps
Quarterbacks
Mac Jones: (55) 100%
Mac Jones played his eighth complete game of 2022 but earned a loss and moved to 14-11 in his career. However, the Patriots’ loss was not on Mac Jones’s hands, as he had a breakout game against the Vikings. The quarterback went back and forth with Kirk Cousins, setting a career-high 382 yards while completing 72 percent of his passes and throwing for two touchdowns. The sophomore showed why he should be the franchise quarterback in New England and gave Patriots fans hope about the new offense. Jones has gone three straight games without throwing an interception but needs to tighten up his decisions in crucial situations. For example, the 24-year-old went 0-3 in the red zone and 3 of 10 on third down.
Running backs
Rhamondre Stevenson: (45) 82%
Damien Harris: (11) 20%
Rhamondre Stevenson remains the staple of the Patriots’ offense and shined again as a pass catcher and running back. The sophomore took 45 snaps, setting a career-high in receiving yards (76) and receptions (nine). However, Damien Harris exited again and only played 20% of the snaps. Harris has already missed time this season with a hamstring injury. Mass live reporter Chris Mason reported he saw Harris in crutches post-game, which doesn’t bold well for the running back. Next in line is rookie Pierre Strong who had a rough game Thursday.
Wide receivers
DeVante Parker: (47) 85%
Nelson Agholor: (43) 78%
Kendrick Bourne: (38) 69%
Tyquan Thornton: (20) 36%
Jakobi Meyers: (16) 29%
With Jakboki Meyers suffering a shoulder injury on the game’s first play, it was the veteran DeVante Parker leading the way with 47 snaps. Parker had 80 receiving yards on four receptions. Nelson Aghlor was right behind him, playing 43 snaps and catching the game’s first touchdown. However, the wideout slowed down at the end of his route on a crucial fourth down that could have set up first and goal for the Patriots. Kendrick Bourne had another slow game, while the rookie out of Baylor Tyquan Thornton continued his rookie slump.
Tight ends
Hunter Henry: (39) 71%
Jonnu Smith: (16) 29%
Hunter Henery remained the Patriots’ top tight end, logging 39 snaps. Henry finished the game with three receptions for 63 yards and one touchdown. He also took part in a very controversial call in what should have been his second touchdown catch. Jonnu Smith’s snaps decreased from last week, as did his production. He didn’t see any targets and played only 16 snaps.
Offensive line
LT Trent Brown: (55) 100%
C James Ferentz: (55) 100%
RG Michael Onwenu: (55) 100%
RT Yodny Cajuste: (55) 100%
LG Cole Strange: (55) 100%
All five offensive linemen played 100% of the snaps and remained on the field for 55 snaps. Veteran center David Andrews and right tackle Isaiah Wynn were inactive in Week 12, resulting in James Ferentz and Yodny Cajuste starting in their place. Against a good pass rush, the group allowed a 28.6 percent pressure rate, only giving up two sacks. Cole Strange bounced back after a rough couple of weeks. However, there was a questionable decision when Trent Brown decided to use a cut block on a deep pass attempt late in the fourth quarter.
Defense – 62 snaps
Defensive line
Deatrich Wise Jr.: (60) 87%
Lawrence Guy Sr.: (50) 72%
Davon Godchaux: (46) 67%
Daniel Ekuale: (21) 30%
Carl Davis: (10) 14%
The Patriots’ front did a good job stopping the run against the Vikings and limiting them to 57 rushing yards. Leading the way was Deatrich Wise Jr., logging 60 snaps. Lawrence Guy and Davon Godchaux weren’t far behind, playing 50 and 46 snaps. No action for rookie Sam Roberts, who had been listed as inactive.
Linebackers
Matthew Judon: (60) 87%
Ja’Whaun Bentley: (56) 81%
Jahlani Tavai: (31) 45%
Raekwon McMillan: (23) 33%
Josh Uche: (17) 25%
Anfernee Jennings: (16) 23%
Mack Wilson Sr.: (15) 22%
Matthew Judon played his highest snap total of the season (60) but failed to sack Kirk Cousins. Bentley spent most of the night in pass coverage, playing 81% of the snaps. McMillian had his best game yet as a Patriot, making multiple tackles. Uche logged New England’s only sack but was limited to 17 plays. Jahlani Tavai (31), Anfrenee Jennings (16), and Mack Wilson (15) all saw action in Minnesota as well.
Defensive backs
Devin McCourty: (69) 100%
Jalen Mills: (63) 91%
Kyle Dugger: (50) 72%
Jonathon Jones: (50) 72%
Adrain Phillps: (36) 52%
Myles Bryant: (32) 46%
Jack Jones: (28) 41%
Jabrill Peppers: (26) 38%
Like always, team captain Devin McCourty played 100% of the snaps and finished with seven tackles. Kyle Dugger struggled to defend tight end T.J. Hockenson but tallied 50 snaps. Adrain Phillps (36) and Jabrill Peppers (26) both had roles in the game but saw their snaps decrease from prior weeks. Jalen Mills also struggled with his 63 snaps, and fellow cornerback Jonathan Jones played 50 snaps while catching an interception. Myles Bryant arguably had his worst game this season, seeing the field on 32 plays. Bryant gave up multiple receptions and committed an unnecessary roughness penalty in the second half.
