According to several reports, the New England Patriots are hiring 35-year-old John Streicher.
Streicher’s joining the Patriots reunites him with head coach Mike Vrabel. His football journey began at Ohio State University, where he served as a student assistant on the defensive staff.
In 2018, Streicher joined the Tennessee Titans as an assistant to head coach Mike Vrabel. Over six seasons, he took on various roles, including coordinator of football development and director of football administration.
His responsibilities included in-game decision-making, week-long planning, and other administrative duties such as managing salary cap strategies and player contracts.
It’s important to note that during a 2021 preseason game, Streicher stepped in to handle head coaching duties when Vrabel was sidelined due to COVID-19 protocols.
In 2024, Streicher joined the Los Angeles Rams as a game management assistant. He only worked for one season under Sean McVay in Los Angeles.
At a press conference after the move was announced Rams head Coach spoke positively on Streicher.
“John Streicher broke my heart and went back with (Mike) Vrabel,” McVay said. “We kinda knew that. What a great job he did with us. He’s going to have an opportunity to have an incredibly significant and cool role with the Patriots. So grateful for the year we had with him.”
The Patriots made too many blunders when it came to in game clock management and the hope is with Streicher coming on board the Patriots’ struggles with managing the clock should come to a close.
