Giants Senior Advisor to join Patriots’ Front Office

After officially hiring Mike Vrabel as the franchise’s next head coach, the New England Patriots aim to add to their front office.

Yahoo Sports’ Charles Robinson reported Sunday morning that New York Giants advisor Ryan Cowden is expected to join Vrabel and the Patriots’ personnel department.

Cowden began his executive career in the NFL early on, joining the Carolina Panthers in 2000 as a scouting assistant.

Starting as a Southeast area scout, he started on his scouting journey with the Panthers, eventually rising to director of college scouting in 2014.

Shortly after, he was hired by the Tennessee Titans as the director of player personnel in 2016 and was promoted to vice president of player personnel in 2018. During his time with the Titans, Cowden held several roles and influenced the team’s draft choices.

Furthermore, when the Titans’ general manager, Jon Robinson, was fired, Cowden was named his interim replacement. Cowden overlapped with Vrabel throughout his tenure in Tennessee.

In 2023, he was hired by the Giants as an executive advisor to the general manager.

Currently, the Patriots do not have an official general manager. The team’s personnel department is led by executive vice president of player personnel Eliot Wolf and senior personnel executive Alonzo Highsmith.

Mike Vrabel will be introduced as the franchise’s 16th head coach in a press conference at Gillette Stadium on Monday.
