2024 New England Patriots cuts tracker: Latest news to 53-man roster

By Tuesday afternoon at 4:00 p.m. ET, the New England Patriots and every other NFL team will have to trim their roster down to 53 players. Along with players being released, there is a chance for trades or injury destinations to occur.

If the Patriots decide to place any players on the Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) or Non-Football Injury (NFI) list, it will not count towards the 53-man roster. If a player is placed on the PUP, they won’t be able to return until after the fourth NFL game. Furthermore, players who are placed on the IR before the start of the season may not return for the rest of the year.

It all comes down to this week for players battling for a roster spot for the last several months. Several dreams across the NFL will gradually end in the next couple of days. Speaking of roster battles, the Patriots have a couple of questionable roster decisions to make. One is the kicker position. The competition is between veteran Joey Slye and second-year player Chad Ryland.

We’ll track all the Patriots transactions, news, and rumors as they prepare their roster for the 2023 season.

Current roster size – 75/90
